Glass Revival seeks to take that which has been already used and give it a new life. In this case, it’s wine bottles that have been remade into exquisitely crafted candles. Sue Calabrese, the owner of Glass Revival, has a mission to “to keep bottles out of landfills and repurpose them into beautiful soy candles to enjoy each day.” Calabrese’s passion for all things pure and natural led her to rescue the beautiful glass bottles and literally infuse them with a new light. Calabrese believes in “using the best ingredients available and choosing to be environmentally responsible.” Thus, Glass Revival uses 100% pure soy wax to make its candles, which are infused with essential oils for fragrance. The wax is made from soybeans grown in the U.S. and is free of pesticides, herbicides, paraffin, beeswax, petroleum, and GMO’s. In other words, the wax is as purely natural and environmentally friendly as the bottles containing it. The candles certainly don’t lack functionality either. “Our soy candles burn slow and clean. The soy wax in our candles is dermatologically tested and is perfect for massage candles,” Calabrese said. As for the source of the glass bottles, Calabrese said they were collected from local restaurants, family and friends. Each bottle is unique and repurposed by hand, lending each candle a special personality. “ “I like working with a variety of bottles: different sizes, shapes and colors,” says Calabrese. “The wine labels are so beautiful and interesting, which makes it so exciting to see the finished product. Saving that special bottle and repurposing it allows that feeling to live on.” One of the perks of being a small business is that Glass Revival is able to provide custom orders, too. Customers often bring in their favorite glass bottles — perhaps that wine enjoyed from a wedding or anniversary — to be repurposed into a candle that can revive all those precious memories with each use. “Every empty bottle is filled with stories,” says Calabrese. The personalization behind each candle makes it a thoughtful present. Eventually, Calabrese is looking to provide personalized labels for the bottles and to open up that option to customers as well. Calabrese’s passion to create an eco-friendly piece of art led to Glass Revival’s founding, and since 2013, her clients have loved both the products and the message that stands behind them. “We hope to continue to create memories with our candles and the great feeling that we all are doing our part to protect the environment,” Calabrese said. Glass Revival, based out of Cave Creek, Arizona, has products sold in boutiques and wineries all over Arizona and Southern California, such as Daisy Blue, a boutique located in Scottsdale, Del Mar, Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach. Other locations include Castle Creek Winery in Moab, Utah; Arizona Stronghold in Cottonwood, Arizona; Cave Creek Olive Oil Company in Cave Creek, Arizona; and Cellar 13 in Carefree. Additionally, Glass Revival ships across the United States from their website,www.glassrevival.com.
